St. Patrick’s weekend has for many year’s been synonymous with the West Cork Rally. Given its recent elevation to the Irish Tarmac Championship and the unfortunate cancellation of the Galway International Rally, this year meant that it served as the opening round of the 2018 Irish Tarmac Championship.
I had never seen the R5 rally cars up close, and for once the stars aligned to allow me out on the stages. The first job was to hunt down a programme which took three visits to various filling stations. With this secured I settled on stage 8 and found an approach to a right handed junction. Positioned just at the start of the braking area, it was a great spot to savour the machines up close. Enjoy the pick of the pics
