The road to recovery

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that since the recent blog posts are about Toyota Avensis brakes, BMW 1-series sensors and pictures of nature, a certain rally replica has been neglected.  Parked up, looking a bit sorry for itself, it’s seen better days.  One of this year’s projects is to restore it to its former glory.  It’s a long road given it’s been out of action for over three years.  Every journey starts with a single step, and at the end of 2017 the car was serviced with new oil, oil filter, air filter and spark plugs.  A battery charge later and the WRX was back firing.  One check engine light was traced to the idle air control system.  All was going well until the fuel pump refused to prime on startup.  Applying voltage to the pump made it run so the problem appears to be electrical.  Once that has been overcome it’s onto the mechanical scope and sorting the chassis and braking system.  A long road ahead but the end result will hopefully be worth it.  Keep checking back for updates
